Homer, a Greek poet of the 8th century BC, is traditionally depicted as a blind old man reciting his poems throughout Ancient Greece. Born around 800 BC and died around 740 BC, he is considered the author of the Iliad and the Odyssey, as well as numerous epic tales. Although many mysteries and legends surround his life, his texts remain present in the collective memory, and his genius has inspired many writers throughout the centuries, such as Plato, Virgil, and Dante.
